The Potter
I'm a studio potter working out of my home studio in Springfield, Oregon's Washburne neighborhood, where I throw, glaze, and fire everything by hand. I grew up in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, where the Appalachian tradition was simple: if you needed something, you made it. That philosophy has never left me — I started Clay Mason Studio because the things we reach for every day should be beautiful, and made by someone who cares about them.
"I've found the same meditative rhythm in long-distance hiking and in pottery — patience, endurance, and presence become their own kind of devotion."
Years of hiking the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Camino de Santiago have shaped everything I make — the textures, colors, and forms of ridgelines, riverbeds, and mossy switchbacks find their way into the clay. My work is sold at local craft markets and through my Etsy shop. I love meeting collectors, taking on custom orders, and occasionally teaching people to get their hands muddy at the wheel.
